Choose one jewel and then its horizontal or vertical neighbor. The swap succeeds only if it creates a match. Clear selection cancels your first choice; Undo restores the whole previous turn, including its cascades and score.

This tab keeps your round and up to 80 undo positions. Nothing syncs to another device.

A LITTLE CONTEXT

Jewel Grove: a free browser game

Jewel Grove is a free match 3 game with a six-by-six board and thirty successful swaps per round. Swap neighboring jewels to make a horizontal or vertical line of at least three. Matches disappear, new jewels fall into the spaces, and a single swap can start several cascades. This compact original player focuses on the matching puzzle without accounts, purchases or another publisher’s game frame.

How to play Jewel Grove

  1. A line needs three or more matching jewels. Horizontal and vertical lines can clear together; diagonal lines do not count.
  2. A valid swap uses one of thirty moves. A rejected swap leaves the field, score and move count unchanged.
  3. Each cleared jewel scores 10 times its cascade number in that turn. A board without a legal swap receives a fresh playable mix.

Jewel Grove strategy

Look for a near-complete line

Two matching jewels with one neighboring gap often suggest the next swap. Check which adjacent jewel can enter that gap without requiring a jump across the field.

Consider what falls after the match

A match near the bottom can move several rows above it. Those drops may complete another line and raise the cascade multiplier for that turn.

Use the moves with a purpose

There is no clock, so inspect the whole board. An available three-jewel match may be useful, but another swap can remove a crossing group or start a stronger chain.

A worked example

A first cascade clearing three jewels earns 30 points. If the resulting fall clears another three, that second cascade earns 60. Both belong to the same accepted swap and spend one move, not two.

Questions about Jewel Grove

Does an invalid swap use a move?

No. A nonadjacent selection or a swap that creates no line changes nothing.

Are diagonal matches allowed?

No. Jewels match in continuous horizontal or vertical lines of at least three.

What if there is no possible swap?

The player supplies a fresh checked mix. The round’s score and remaining moves are kept, and the status message explains that the mix changed.

Does Undo reverse every cascade?

Yes. Undo restores the entire board and score from before the accepted swap, including all fills, cascades and any fresh-mix replacement.

Local progress, keyboard play and privacy

This original player runs in your browser. Refreshing the same tab restores the puzzle and its bounded undo history; closing the tab ends that session. If tab storage is blocked, the live round remains playable and the player explains the limitation. Keyboard users can reach controls with Tab and activate buttons with Enter or Space.
