THE OFFICIAL GAME

Maze Snake

A quiet maze. One step at a time. Remember which way you are facing.

Press Play to open the game. No external player loads before you start.

FOLLOW THE SNAKE’S HEADING

Forward is forward.
Left belongs to the snake.

  1. Move one step with each input. The snake does not travel automatically while you are thinking.
  2. Collect the golden pellets to clear the maze. Eating extends the body, changing which passages remain safe.
  3. Avoid the walls and your own body. Left and right are relative to the snake’s current heading, rather than fixed directions on the screen.

Desktop controls

Up Arrow, W or Space moves one step forward. Left Arrow or A turns to the snake’s left and steps; Right Arrow or D turns to its right and steps. Click inside the game first.

Phone or tablet

Use the three screen buttons: the upward triangle steps forward, while the left and right triangles turn relative to the snake. Full screen keeps these controls and the Joywisp exit toolbar visible.

Watch the head’s orientation rather than mapping a key directly to a screen direction. The snake stays still between moves. Stop game returns focus to Play.

PLAN THE WAY BACK

Picture the head at the next junction.

Before pressing a turn, imagine yourself facing the direction the head faces. Check the tile you will enter and the route you will need after collecting the next pellet. A side passage can become harder to leave as the body grows, so plan the return as well as the approach.

A MAZE WITHOUT THE CLOCK

The opening corner makes the control rule visible.

In the checked maze the snake began facing right. Six forward inputs moved it across the top corridor; a right-turn input then moved it downward around the corner. A native click on the forward screen button also moved it at390px. The atlas illustration is an original small maze, not the game’s board or a solution.

At the next corner

Why did Up move the snake toward the right side of the screen?

Up is the forward command. If the head faces right, moving forward takes it right. The control is based on the head’s orientation.

Does turning use a separate move?

The left and right commands both turn and step. Check the neighboring tile before pressing either one.

Can I pause to think?

Yes. The snake moves only when you issue a move, so it already waits between inputs.

Is this Joywisp’s classic Snake game?

This is the separate official Maze Snake game hosted by GamePix. It uses step-by-step maze movement and relative turns; the existing Joywisp Snake page remains available separately.
