THE ORIGINAL GAME, EXPLAINED

About the original Wordchute

Wordchute combines finding words with planning what happens after those letters disappear. You can see the letters waiting above the active board, so a promising word is only the beginning of a move. It is a thoughtful daily puzzle for players who like word searches with a strategic twist.

  1. Make a word of at least three letters from touching tiles inside the active 4×4 board. Diagonal links count; reuse of a tile within one word does not.
  2. Accepted letters disappear and the letters above fall down in the same columns. Only letters inside the active board are playable.
  3. Try to clear all 32 letters. The original game ranks tiles cleared before points.

Look one move beyond the word

Trace the columns a candidate word will change. Which waiting letters enter the active board? Will useful neighbors remain together? A shorter move that creates another word may be more valuable to your clear attempt than a long move that separates the remaining letters.

The creator describes browser play with no account or download needed. Daily and past boards, hints and solutions are available on the original site. Assisted play has different ranking rules.

Practice without the daily pressure

Past boards let you revisit the mechanics and try a different plan. Use one to explore an unfamiliar pattern, then take that idea into another board. A practice attempt can be useful even when it ends with letters still on the board.

Choose whether you want help or a ranked attempt

Wordchute has its own hints and solutions. The official guide says taking help excludes assisted runs from the ranked board. Decide which kind of attempt you want before requesting help, and keep any automated solver out of ranked play.
