What to expect
- Objective
- Scavenge, call the helicopter and reach it during the short landing window.
- Failure pressure
- Missed extraction starts a tougher round; death loses half the run's money, per creator.
- Creator-listed input
- D-pad moves, crank aims and calls extraction, A fires, B uses a chosen special ability.
Watch the extraction window
The creator describes a 60-second round to loot and fight in a procedurally generated countryside. A 10-second radio window opens for a crank call; the helicopter arrives a few seconds later, then lands for 15 seconds. Reach it and hold for two seconds to extract. These timings are copied as stated from the creator's page and have not been measured in play.
Decide when to stay
Missing the helicopter sends the player into another round with more and tougher zombies, according to the page. Dying loses half the money from that run. Crates and a fixed-for-the-run special ability add decisions to movement, aiming and firing. This is a Playdate-specific extraction loop, not a Joywisp browser game or an embedded player.
Use the right install route
On hardware, the creator says to sideload the intact ZIP from a Playdate account and find it under Settings then Games. In the Playdate Simulator, the ZIP is unpacked and the PDX opened there. The page says updating by sideload preserves progress, but Joywisp has not checked saves, performance or compatibility on real hardware.
How to choose
The creator lists the D-pad for movement, the crank for aiming, A to fire and B for a loadout-selected special ability. The page says the crank also calls the extraction helicopter during its radio window. Choose Dead Drop if a timed extraction loop and Playdate crank input appeal to you. It needs a Playdate or its simulator according to the creator; readers seeking a desktop browser game should choose another discovery.
